After completing her Bachelors degrees in Arts in 2011 and then in Education in 2012, Sonya Leclerc went on to follow her passion for health and fitness. While working since 2014 as a Certified Personal Trainer, first at Goodlife, and then later at The Station, her client base had evolved to working with clients with a more rehabilitative focus.
Sonya found manual osteopathy while searching for a way to treat a debilitating injury to her knee, and has seen for herself the benefits of manual osteopathy. Sonya has since gone on to study at the National Academy of Osteopathy in North York, Toronto, Ontario, where she earned her Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice in 2018. After graduation, Sonya now works as an osteopathic manual practitioner, and continues to work as a CPTS at The Station. She has combined her two passions into Foundations Osteopathy and Wellness.
She believes in an evidence-based approach to healthcare and manual therapy, and in treating the body as a single sophisticated unit. Sonya’s athletic background in competitive swimming and bodybuilding, combined with her years as a certified personal training specialist, has given her a sharp eye for the subtle movements of the body, and an appreciation for the significance of proactive therapeutic and rehabilitative applications on healing and recovery, and achieving a greater quality of life. This appreciation inspires Sonya to continuously expand on her knowledge through research and self education in an effort to provide better care for her clients.
